He can't say what it was he was expecting exactly, but he's still startled when the head he's kissing not only wakes up but jerks up and away quite suddenly. He windmills for a second, but isn't yet coordinated enough to keep himself from falling onto his backside in surprise.

He stares up at the head, now towering above him, as it looks down at the rest of itself. The other two heads have yet to wake up, a fact that he might have noted more quickly had he not been so extremely focused on the one awake head. He'd subconsciously held his breath as he waited for some sign that it might be getting ready to attack. Instead, however, it speaks. A woman's voice comes out of it (a fact that reassures him for whatever reason).

He quietly exhales. Okay, she is indeed one of them, she's not attacking him, and she's not yelling in rage or hunger. These are all good signs.

He does his best to still any signs of a quiver that might enter his voice and offers a small (if shaky) reassuring smile. "Ah, Mason. He attacked everyone with vines for some reason. Everyone who got caught in them ended up falling asleep. Which is what happened to you, I'm assuming?"

He certainly hopes so now. How awkward would this be if she'd actually just happened to be napping and he'd kissed her out of nowhere...
