Breath rushes into the lungs of the slumbering page, and they rise slightly, lips seeking hungrily their light stimulus.

Consciousness follows but a second later; understanding a tenth-second after that - Huǒ finds their face intertwined with that of their surprised friend and jumps back into the pile of debris to break the kiss.

"HI," says Huǒ, just a touch overloud in this low-lit and intimate environment. "Uh...so that's how we get out of the dreamland, huh." The page is locked in position, off-balance, hands frozen in place supporting their weight.

Kale jumps back just as quickly, rising to stand above the page. "Hello! Yes, welcome back to the world of the waking." He offers Huǒ a hand to pull them up from the ground. "You said in the dream that you were locked in the hearth room, so I figured I'd better come find you or else no one would." If the assortment of flowers blooming above his ears and wrists seem to tend a bit more toward the red than usual, it is probably just your imagination.

"Much appreciated," the page says, a small and lopsided grin slowly emerging from the ice of their wide-eyed stare. They clasp their hand halfway up Kale's forearm and pull themselves up abruptly. "You did a good job, Vines." They remember a moment later than propriety would dictate to let Kale's arm go. If the illusion of fire in their hair seems to be dancing a little more frantically than usual, it is probably just your imagination.

"You're welcome," he offers, not sure what else to say. "I'm gonna go find something to eat - being asleep all day sure makes a fellow hungry." He briefly considers inviting the page to join him, but decides against it for the moment. "I'll see you around, I suppose?"

This is like the most appropriate situation ever in which to say "why thank you"

"I'll probably get to that eventually; I'm not too hungry yet. You hang around the gardens a lot, right, Vines?"

"That is where gardens tend to be, in my experience," he grins. "Oh, and if you get tired of callin' me Vines... my sister and I like the sound of 'Kale' for a name."

"I know it is, you goof." Kale gets an affectionate slug in the shoulder for being such a smartass. "I like the sound of that too. Kale it i...wait, sister? Actually, you're hungry, I don't want to keep you. I'll drop by tonight or tomorrow and you can tell me about this sister of yours."
