SLEEPING BEAUTIES: DREAM LOG

Bewitched by the thorn's touch, you have been ensnared in the deepest of sleep. Fortunately for you, the world of Faerie doesn't end with the waking.

The world of your dreams is brighter now, more clear than you've ever witnessed it. You've been it before, you think, there fragments of yourself become reality. But now you are somehow more lucid in its presence, and it's more real - something you can reach out and touch.

You find yourself in this world, and you are not alone. Your dreams and those of other join at the edges, pulling into each other along similar threads.

And you are watched by something even greater.

"I dunno!" she replies, exasperated. "I must've been here before, I guess, but I can't remember what the hell it's supposed to be, aside from clouds!"

[nosentimentalist]

He only chuckles in reply- really the more she gets frustrated, the more he seems amused by it all.

"Well, you're not a bird, that's for sure, so that rules the fact that you may have flown here completely out. But who knows? Perhaps one time you were a winged...whatever you are. What are you?"

[fuzzyduck]

She has managed to notice, and it certainly doesn't help her frustration. It almost reminds her of something. Maybe. Whatever it is, it feels like it's completely out of her reach for now.

"Now, ya mean? I'm..." Actually, now that he brings it up, she realises that she lacks a good word for it. "Some kinda cross between a dog - or a wolf or whatever - and a person. Like, a wolfwoman."

[nosentimentalist]

"A werewolf, perhaps?" He doesn't know how he knows that word, but it seems natural, familiar, like something he's read somewhere before. "But ah, I can see it, what with the teeth and all. It's hard to tell sometimes, what we all are...some are easier than others."

[fuzzyduck]

"... Yeah, sounds 'bout right." The word doesn't sound odd to her ears. Maybe she knew it too, once.

"Speakin' of which, what're you supposed to be?"

[nosentimentalist]

"A typewriter. See the keys?" He pauses to turn slightly to show her the keys sticking out of his chest, each labelled with its respective letter. "I'm used to print letters on paper, if you do not actually know what a typewriter does."

[fuzzyduck]

"I know what a typewriter is, dipshit." She grumbles. "I just didn't notice the keys, okay?"

Besides, he could have been something else with a keyboard.

[nosentimentalist]

He only lets out a laugh in response. "Just checking. You never know."

He keeps striding forward, starting to get a bit bored. Honestly, getting out of dreams seemed so much easier before this.

"...Why were you in that glass cage before? Do you know?"

[fuzzyduck]

"No clue. Probably somethin' I can't remember." Maybe she could have remembered, if things had gone a little differently. If she hadn't started thinking about walkin' on the sun.

[nosentimentalist]

"Perhaps it's a metaphor for something. Dreams are filled with those sorts of things, right? Maybe it means you feel trapped by your situation."

It's interesting, to try to understand what everyone's dreams meant. It was like he was seeing a side of them they didn't really show to anyone.

"But what do I know? I'm a typewriter, not a dream dictionary."

[fuzzyduck]

"Oh, yeah?" The idea makes some sense to her, even if she isn't sure if it's quite right - either way, though, she feels oddly reluctant to admit it outright.

"What 'bout all the empty space? Whaddya figure that means, Typewriter?"

[nosentimentalist]

"It's the state of your mind," he replies, but he gives it a good minute or so before he looks back at her with a grin. It was a joke, obviously.

"To be serious, though, maybe you just don't like people? Or you need or want space, away from the hassle of life...though like I said, interpreting dreams isn't my job."

[fuzzyduck]

"We met like 15 minutes ago and I already wanna kick your ass." She doesn't really mean that, either. Mostly.

"Anyway, how come you're in my dream?"

[nosentimentalist]

He chuckles at that. "Good to know I've made such a good first impression, then."

At her question, though, he just shrugs. "I was wandering, I came into your dream from another dream. They seem to mesh together, somehow. So, basically, I just found myself here with no control over where I was going."

[fuzzyduck]

"So..." These aren't even normal dreams. But as soon as she thinks it, it strikes her as an incredibly obvious statement, and she certainly doesn't want to look like a fool in front of a Smart Guy. Something else then-- ah.

"How can even we be sure these are dreams?"

[nosentimentalist]

"Because we didn't die, and this is way too complex to be a shared hallucination. Plus, it's weird enough to be a dream, so...therefore, dream."

Hey, it doesn't make sense to him either, but that's the most logical explanation he has.
